Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale isn’t leaving the club albeit he has not been featuring regularly for the La Liga champions in recent weeks, consistent with his agent Jonathan Barnett.
Despite winning four Champions League titles with Real, Gareth Bale divides opinion due to a perceived lack of commitment and a poor injury record. He seemed set for a move to Chinese club Jiangsu Suning last year before the deal fell through.
The Welshman, who has scored quite 100 goals for the club, infuriated Real fans as he joked about falling asleep with a protective mask over his eyes while watching the team’s recent 2-0 convert Alaves in Madrid from the stands.
“Gareth Bale’s fine. He has two years left on his contract. He likes living in Madrid and he’s going nowhere,” Barnett told the BBC.
“He remains nearly as good as anyone else within the team,” Barnett said, adding that Bale’s place within the team was up to manager Zinedine Zidane.
“Of course, there’s been interest but there’s few club within the world which may afford him. It’s an excellent loss that he’s not within the Real Madrid team at the instant but he’ll not leave.
“Gareth isn’t looking to outlast Zidane. Zidane has been very successful. There’s no hatred. Zidane just doesn’t want to play him. Gareth trains a day and he trains well.”
Barnett said that Bale was keen to represent Wales at next year’s European Championship, but ruled out a loan switch to a different club for normal game time to stay match fit.
“He always wants to play well for Wales,” Barnett said.
“Gareth’s one among the simplest players within the world. the simplest players within the world don’t leave on loan.”
